Web Applications Programmer

Web Applications Programmer:
Provides on-site web applications support to maintain and enhance MCI Online (www.mci.usmc.mil), Student Support Services, the Command UVR, and the digital DP-37. Host, maintain, and enhance, as required, other Barracks-sponsored web sites such as the Barracks Intranet, MBW web page (www.mbw.usmc.mil), Drum & Bugle Corps, and U.S. Marine Band. Supports other web application projects such as the parade reservations system and applies industry standard systems development methodologies. Maintain fielded systems, monitor system performance, troubleshoot errors, collect data, analyze results, and modify ongoing reports.

Working familiarity with the following web applications tools and systems:
  • Microsoft Visual Web Express or Microsoft Visual Studio .Net
  • Internet Information Services 6.0
  • .NET (ASP.Net and VB.Net or C#)
  • Expertise in developing user-friendly, web-based applications connected to a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database or Oracle RDBMS
  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of websites
  • Development in Windows Server environment

Bonus knowledge, a plus:
  • ASP, SQL, JavaScript, VBScript

At a minimum, perform the following tasks:
  • Monitor functionality, security, and integrity of Internet services;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with the design and delivery of Internet services;
  • Evaluate new Internet services and technologies;
  • Assist with the design and creation of new web sites/pages;
  • Evaluate code and repair errors;
  • Convert user-developed content into workable web pages;
  • Build and implement web-enabled Marine Corps Institute applications;
